What is a grappling hook and how do I use it?
On some servers (most particularly via mods) there exists a grappling hook which enables people to fire a grapple at walls, floors, ceilings, etc which latches itself and pulls the player towards that point allowing the player to reach previously unreachable areas or move greater distances at higher speeds.
Grappling must be enabled on the server and a key must be bound to use it. There are various methods, depending on the game or mod:
baseq3 usage:
/bind x weapon 10
Most mods such as Alliance, LRCTF, OSP, Threewave usage:
/bind x +button5
In order to cover both bases just put this in your autoexec.cfg:
/bind x "weapon 10; +button5"
(Replace "x" in the examples above with the key or button you choose to use for grappling)
To ‘throw’ the grapple hook, simply press and hold the key bind. Let go of the key (or some mods require pressing the key again) to release or retract the grappling hook.
