Het lukt me maar steeds niet om Norton Systemworks 2004 te updaten. Ook niet na het volgen van de aanbevelingen van www.symantec.com:
Error: "LU1812: An update failed to install. A program that was part of this update failed when it ran. This update was not applied."
Situation:
When LiveUpdate attempts to install an update, you see the message "LU1812: An update failed to install. A program that was part of this update failed when it ran. This update was not applied."
Solution:
This can be caused by a corrupted file in the \Downloads folder or by one or more damaged Symante™ or Norton™ program files.
Because clearing the files in the \Downloads folder is fairly quick to do, this should be tried first. If clearing the \Downloads folder does not fix the problem, you will have to uninstall and reinstall all Norton and Symantec products.

What to do if you still see the error message after clearing \Downloads
If clearing the \Downloads folder did not work, you will have to uninstall and reinstall all Symantec and Norton programs.
Close all programs.
Follow the instructions that apply to your version of Windows:
In Windows 98/2000, on the Windows desktop, click the Start button > Settings > Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
In Windows Me, on the Windows desktop, click the Start button > Settings > Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs. (If you do not see the Add/Remove Programs icon, first click "...view all Control Panel options.")
Windows XP, on the Windows desktop, click the Start button > Control Panel. In the Control Panel window, double-click Add/Remove Programs. (If you do not see the Add/Remove Programs icon, in the left side of the window, first click "Switch to Classic View.)
Click the first Norton or Symantec program that you have installed, for example, Norton AntiVirus 2003.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: You may need to use the scroll bar to view the whole list.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Click Add/Remove, Change/Remove, or Remove (this varies with the operating system). Follow the prompts.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until all Symantec or Norton programs have been uninstalled.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the programs "LiveReg (Symantec Corporation)" and "LiveUpdate (Symantec Corporation)."
Restart the computer.
Reinstall your first Symantec or Norton program. Run LiveUpdate when the installation is finished (you may be prompted to do this.) Keep running LiveUpdate until you see a message that no more updates are available.
If you have additional programs, repeat step 8, installing one program at a time until all are installed.
Graag jullie antwoord! Alvast dank!
