Hoi Allemaal,

Zo maar een vraag......

Wat is eigelijk het verschil tussen + en - DVD's
:(

Heeft de een voordelen t/o de ander ?
Ik heb met beide geen problemen, dus zodoende de vraag...

Dank je voor je snelle reactie, het gekke is als ik het zo terloops eens aan een "ervaren brander" vraag krijg ik altijd een onbeduidend antwoord.

Het was volgens mij ook niet meer "van deze tijd ".

Maar nu weet ik tenminste.

Volgens hij is het hoofdzakelijk verschil tussen deze 2 de indeling op de schijf zelf.
Dit vond ik o.a.:
DVD-R and DVD-RW
DVD-R was the first DVD recording format released that was compatible with standalone DVD Players.
DVD-R is a non-rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 93% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
DVD-RW is a rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 80% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
DVD-R and DVD-RW supports single side 4.37 computer GB* DVDs(called DVD-5) and double sided 8.75 computer GB* DVDs(called DVD-10).


DVD+R and DVD+RW
DVD+R is a non-rewritable format and it is compatible with about 89% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
DVD+RW is a rewritable format and is compatible with about 79% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
DVD+R and DVD+RW supports single side 4.37 computer GB* DVDs(called DVD-5) and double side 8.75 computer GB* DVDs(called DVD-10).


DVD+R DL
DVD+R DL or called DVD+R9 is a Dual Layer writeable DVD+R. The dual layered discs can hold 7.95 computer GB* (called DVD-9) and dual layered double sides 15.9* computer GB (called dvd-18).

DVD-RAM
DVD-RAM has the best recording features but it is not compatible with most DVD-ROM drives and DVD-Video players. Think more of it as a removable hard disk. DVD-RAM is usually used in some DVD Recorders.

DVD+R and DVD+RW
DVD+R and DVD+RW formats are supported by Philips, Sony, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Ricoh, Yamaha and others.

DVD+R is a recordable DVD format similar to CD-R. A DVD+R can only record data once and then the data becomes permanent on the disc. The disc can not be recorded onto a second time.

DVD+RW is a re-recordable format similar to CD-RW. The data on a DVD+RW disc can be erased and recorded over numerous times without damaging the medium.

DVDs created by a +R/+RW device can be read by most commercial DVD-ROM players.

DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD-RAM
These formats are supported by Panasonic, Toshiba, Apple Computer, Hitachi, NEC, Pioneer, Samsung and Sharp. These formats are also supported by the DVD Forum.

DVD-R is a recordable DVD format similar to CD-R and DVD+R. A DVD-R can only record data once and then the data becomes permanent on the disc. The disc can not be recorded onto a second time. There also are two additional standards for DVD-R disks: DVD-RG for general use, and DVD-RA for authoring, which is used for mastering DVD video or data and is not typically available to the general public.

DVD-RW is a re-recordable format similar to CD-RW or DVD+RW. The data on a DVD-RW disc can be erased and recorded over numerous times without damaging the medium.

DVDs created by a -R/-RW device can be read by most commercial DVD-ROM players.

DVD-RAM discs can be recorded and erased repeatedly but are only compatible with devices manufactured by the companies that support the DVD-RAM format. DVD-RAM discs are typically housed in cartridges.

DVD-ROM
DVD-ROM was the first DVD standard to hit the market and is a read-only format. The video or game content is burned onto the DVD once and the DVD will run on any DVD-ROM-equipped device.

Sorry, ik had al op antwoord geklikt en we postten onze antwoorden op hetzelfde tijdstip. Het het maar effe opgezocht, dan weet je de cijfers en de merken ook ineens.:)
En zoals Raymond al aangaf, + is toch het beste.

Bedankt voor jullie uitgebreide toelichting.Sinds kort gebruik ik zowel + als - DVD's en de kwaliteit is inderdaad bij beide gelijk. Maar wat ik nu alleen nog niet begrijp is waarom de - DVD's zoveel goedkoper zijn terwijl de meeste DVD branders beide soorten kan branden en de meeste DVD spelers ze gewoon lezen. Ik heb thuis een DVD/DIVX speler en die heeft met allebei totaal geen moeite. Waar zit het verschil dan in? Ook op internetsites over branden etc. blijft dat vaag...Alvast bedankt :thumb:
