Description:
This non-memory resident malware infects EXE files located in the download folder of Kazaa and Internet Explorer. It infects files by attaching a compressed version of itself then shifting the original contents of the infected file at the very end of the virus code. This way, the viral code is executed first when the infected file is run.
It uses the UPX compression utility in compressing itself.
Solution:
Scan your system with Trend Micro antivirus and delete all files detected as PE_HANTANER.A. To do this, Trend Micro customers must download the latest pattern file and scan their system. Other Internet users can use HouseCall, Trend Micro's free online virus scanner.
