Hallo,
Ik heb dit een tijdje geleden ook gehad. Hieronder kopieer ik het antwoord dat ik toen van hun helpdesk heb gehad. Bij mij was het probleem hiermee opgelost.

Dear Arthur,
Thank you for contacting PestPatrol Support. I am sorry you are having troubles updating.
The following Update FAQ can assist you with getting PPUpdater running, or performing
manual updates.
VERSIONS.TXT ERROR
When PPUpdater launches, it deletes any old copies of versions.txt, and tries to retrieve a
fresh copy, which will contain a list of the latest files available for it to retrieve. If PPUpdater
cannot connect to the internet, it cannot read this file and will report an error. There are a
few reasons why this might happen:
WINDOWS CONFIGURATION
Try opening Internet Options to the Connections tab and change the "Choose settings if you
need to configure a proxy server for a connection" to "Never Dial a connection" On some
configurations, this will enable PPUpdater to connect to the internet.
PPUPDATER DISCONNECTED YOU
It is POSSIBLE that the versions.txt problem you are having is that your PPUpdater is
disconnecting you from the Internet at the time it runs. To correct this problem, please run
PPUpdater, then when it fails, leave the window open, reconnect your internet connection if
required, then return the PPUpdater window and select “File – Restart” The updates should
run correctly now without error.
If PPUpdater continues to fail to connect, please check which version number you have.
This can be found on the ‘Info – About’ tab in PestPatrol. If you have not tried the latest
version dated August 12th, do try it. If you have tried it, and it is disconnecting you, then
retrieve the January 24 version, and use this.
To get the August 12th version: retrieve the latest PPUpdater from
http://download.pestpatrol.com/downloads/components/ppupdater.exe and save it to your
PestPatrol directory.
To get the January 24 version: retrieve from
http://download.pestpatrol.com/downloads/PPUpOld/ppupdater.exe and save it to your
PestPatrol directory.
IMPORTANT - The default location for the PestPatrol directory is c:\Program
Files\PestPatrol\ Please change this, if needed, to your current PestPatrol directory if it is in
a different location. If PPUpdater is downloaded to a location outside the PestPatrol
directory, it will create an evaluation version of the program.
NO DIALUP CONNECTION
If you have a dialup connection to the Internet, PPUpdater will NOT open this connection for
you. You need to ensure that your Internet connection is active before running PPUpdater.
MANUAL UPDATES
If you are still experiencing difficulties with automatic updates, please try doing manual
updates from our Update Center. You can download new components and strings directly
into your PestPatrol folder from our website:
http://pestpatrol.com/Support/Downloads.asp
PestPatrol.exe can be found in Components:
http://pestpatrol.com/Support/Downloads.asp#components
The remainder can be found in 'Strings' section:
http://pestpatrol.com/Support/Downloads.asp#strings
Version information of each component and file available for download can be matched
against the information on your ‘Info’- ‘About’ tab and our website:
http://pestpatrol.com/Support/Downloads.asp#version
If you experience further difficulties, please let us know. We are in the process of
developing a new PPUpdater and hope to have this ready for use soon.
Best regards
Stuart Wilson

Hi,
A strange problem. Each time I try to update PestPatrol, my internet connection
is closed as soon as I click "update". I have to reopen the connection and
choose "try again" before the update will work. Do you have any idea what this
might be due to? I don't have this problem updating any other application like
my Panda antivirus or whatever.
Thanks, Arthur de Smet
