This document provides instructions for installing the following products in Microsoft® Windows XP:
HP Officejet Pro series (1150c, 1150xi, 1170c, 1170cse, 1170cxi, 1175cse, and 1175cxi)
HP Officejet R series (R40, R40xi, R60, R45, R60, R65, R80, and R80xi)
HP PSC 500 series (PSC 500 and PSC 500xi)
Windows XP includes printing and scanning software drivers for many products from HP and other manufacturers. These drivers include the scanning and printing drivers for the HP all-in-one products listed above. HP provided these drivers to Microsoft for inclusion into the Windows XP operating system as it was developed. There is no additional software to download or order for the products listed above and HP will not be developing new drivers or software for them. The level of functionality available for these products in Windows XP without downloading any software is equal to the level of functionality these products have in Windows 2000 with the 5 .3 MB scanning and printing download. This functionality is also very similar to the functionality available in earlier Windows versions. There may be some slight functionality differences from Windows 95, 98, Me, and NT4.0 because some features were difficult to incorporate into the built-in drivers smoothly or because of file size constraints. These differences are detailed below.
