Socket Error #10061

Hallo,

Weet niet of ik in het goede forum zit, maar ik zie wel wat er gebeurd.

Heb een paar proggy's die regelmatig op internet moeten.
Krijg nu eensklaps de melding socket error #10061connection refused
En de proggy's kunnen niet meer internet op.
Heb fire-walls uitgezet, maar het probleem blijft.

Gebruik XP Pro IE6 SP2

Is er iemand die weet wat dit is en hoe te herstellen??

Via het forum van breekpunt.nl kwam ik op deze site en daar staat het volgende:

Socket error = #10061
10061 is a Connection Refused error sent to you by the server. You could not make a connection because the target machine actively refused it. The most common cause is a misconfigured server, full server, or incorrect Port specified by the client.

To change your connection Port for an FTP site
1. Highlight the site in the Site Manager.
2. On the menu bar, click File > Properties.
3. Click the Type tab.
4. Enter the correct port number in the Port text box.

Sometimes a 10061 error is caused by either a firewall or anti-virus software presence on the local computer or network connection. Either one may be blocking the ports needed to make a successful FTP connection to the server.

For a regular FTP session, please either disable the firewall or anti-virus software or configure it to allow CuteFTP to establish an FTP session over ports 20 and 21. Please consult the documentation or help file for your specific firewall or antivirus software product for further instructions. Usually the manufacturer of the device or software will also have specific instructions available on their Web site.

If you continue to receive the same error after insuring ports 20 and 21 are open, please contact the administrator of the site where you are trying to connect.

nadere uitleg svp

Ik heb eenzelfde probleem vermoed ik. Kan wel internetten via Microsoft Internet Explorer
maar niet via Firefox en kan geen mail ophalen via Thunderbird. Toevalligerwijs (?) beide
Mozilla-producten. Op mijn laptop komen deze problemen voor doch op mijn andere computer niet terwijl ik ook daar van dezelfde programma's gebruik maak. De- en vervolgens herinstallatie van een nieuwere Firefox leverde in ieder geval geen positief
resultaat op. Socket error melding 10061 kwam pas bij mij tevoorschijn nadat ik geprobeerd had via ander antivirusprogramma (AVG) en Spybot Search & Destroy de
oorzaak te achterhalen. Moest daarvoor eerst definities updaten en dat lukte niet. Geen
verbinding met internet mogelijk onder vermelding van de socket error 10061.
Mijn vraag m.b.t. de oplossing is nu echter: wat wordt bedoeld met "Site Manager"?
Welk programma o.i.d.? Waar vind ik dat?
