QVT/Term 4.1.5c
November 1997 Release
QPC Software is pleased to introduce the release of QVT/Term 4.1.5, a DEC VT emulation package for use in Internet, Intranet, or dialup modem environments.
There are two versions of QVT/Term, a 32-bit version for Windows 95 and NT, and a 16-bit version for Windows 3.1. Make sure that you have the right version for your operating system.
The present release, 4.1.5, is an update release that introduces a set of enhancements and bug-fixes, as described below (see 'Release Notes').
Installation Information
QVT/Term 4.1 uses a directory structure different from that used by QVT/Term 4.0. In QVT/Term 4.1, the following directories are used:
\Program Files\QPC\QvtNet\bin all program and data files
\Program Files\QPC\QvtNet\help all help files
\Program Files\QPC\QvtNet\system all shared files (.fon, .ttf, .dll, .ocx)
For this reason, we suggest that users of QVT/Term 4.0 install this new release in a directory other than the one that was used for QVT/Term 4.0.
If you take this approach, you will have to copy data certain files from the old installation to the new. For example, the file TERM.CFG, which includes terminal configuration information, would have to be copied from '\qvtnet40\terminal' to 'QPC\qvtnet\bin'. Similarly, the '.newsrc' file must be copied from '\qvtnet40\news' to 'QPC\qvtnet\bin'.
Alternatively, you can 'uninstall' QVT/Term 4.0 before installing QVT/Term 4.1. This will delete all of the QVT/Term 4.0 program files, but the important data files will be left behind. You can then install QVT/Term 4.1 into the same directory. You will still, however, have to copy the data files from their old locations to the 'QPC\QvtNet\bin' directory.
Caution: the QVT/Term 4.1 directory structure is documented in the Windows registry at installation time. Therefore, you cannot move any of the QVT/Term files after they are installed. The applications will almost certainly not work if they are not run from their original locations.
Here is a list of the data files that may be present in your QVT/Term 4.0 installation, all of which must be moved to the 'QPC\QvtNet\bin' directory following the installation of QVT/Term 4.1:
term.cfg
*.km (keymap files)
*.scf (script files)
