Groeten, Peter
Updates to our Privacy Policy
Evernote started with the aspiration to become your external brain. The first step on this journey was to enable you to "remember everything" by helping you capture and recall information at any time, anywhere. We're now taking the next step by exploring new technologies to help you not only archive your thoughts, but also process and take action on them — to think. To support these upcoming technical innovations, we’re updating Evernote's Privacy Policy, effective January 23, 2017.
Our 3 Laws of Data Protection have not changed: Your data is yours, protected, and portable. However, we are updating two Privacy Policy provisions regarding the ways we handle data:
•
In building a more personalized Evernote service that can adapt to the way you think and work, we may need to oversee these automated technologies to ensure they are working as intended. Your data remains confidential; access to customer data is strictly limited as outlined in our Privacy Policy. If you want to opt out, you can do so in your account settings, and our engineers won't look at your data to improve the service. However, you may not be able to fully take advantage of future advanced features. See our FAQ for more details.
•
Also, we’ll be using data from other sources to tailor your Evernote experience and explain how you can get more out of your Evernote account. For example, a student and a professional may have different needs. Customizing the Evernote experience will make it more useful for everyone.
These changes will go into effect on January 23, 2017. If you continue to use Evernote after that date, it means you consent to our updated privacy policy.
If you have any questions about these changes, please visit our FAQ.
