To share a printer, you need to install the printer driver on the host PC.
Host PC: XP usb
-Go to Start, Printers and Faxes. (Note: If your user interface is not set to classic view, you will need to go to Printers and Other Hardware before clicking Printers and Faxes.)
-Right click the printer icon and select Sharing.
-Make sure that the Shared As option is selected. (If your user interface is not set to classic view, you will see the option Share this printer instead.)
-You can give your printer a Share Name in the designated field or keep the default name.
-Click Apply and then OK.
Remote PC:
-Go to Start, Search.
-In the left taskbar, select Computers / People and Computer on network.
-Enter the name of the host PC (for example, "User13") and click OK.
-Right click on the host PC image in the main frame and select Connect. The printer will now appear in the Printers folder.
Host PC: LPT
-Go to Start, Settings, Printers
-Right click on the printer and select Properties.
-Select the Sharing tab.
-Click Shared As and give the printer a distinctive name, for example: CANON.
-Click OK.
Remote PC:
-Double-click Network Neighborhood.
-Locate the host PC and double-click it.
-Locate the printer in the new screen and select it.
-Click File, Capture Printer Port.
-Select an LPT port higher than LPT1, for example: LPT2.
-Click OK and close all the remaining Network Neighborhood screens.
-Go to Start, Settings, Printers.
-Open the Properties for the Canon and select the Details tab.
-Under Print To The Following Port, select the LPT port you chose in step 5.
-Click OK and close the Printers screen.
-Open a short file and try printing.
