Ok I was able to fix this.

I'm running a Photosmart 2710 ALLINONE on a Wireless Network with 3 computers. Running XP. All computers encounted the same "The print Spooler was unable to connect to your printer" error when trying to print. I had a cable outage which had required me to reboot the router and it was then the problem started.

I contacted HP and what we were able to determine is; there were several EXTRA icons in the Control Panel, Under Printers and Faxes. Not unssual except that these icons were Identical and would not delete. Double clicking on these icons opened them and it was found each contained a pending document waiting to be printed. Once these were deleted the Icon itself could be deleted.

All Icons were deleted in this fashion, including the default and then the printer disc was inserted and the steps were followed to "add a new device" from the start up menu of the installation disc. This created a fresh default printer Icon in the Control Panel and printing resumed normally. The Tech did some additional research (yes I got a good one) and also found this...

Under Control Panel, Printers and Faxes, then right click on the default printer Icon and select Properties. Select the advanced tab at the top and near the middle there are some bullets "Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster" should be the default bullet selected. There is another option there that says "Print directly to Printer" The tech tells me this could also be a fix as it will keep documents from being spooled up prior to printing and instead send them directly to the printer.

I havent had to use this option as the above mentioned fixed my problem, however, for those of you using a differant printer or OS I thought id list it as it may be a fix for your issue.

The Tech had no idea why these extra Icons were there or how they got there, and I certainlydidnt either. As of this wirting i've not noticed any new ones being added there.... so who knows how this happened.

Hopefully this helps. Good Luck.

anders even de HP helpdesk bellen,
