SpywareGuard, hoe te gebruiken?

Hoi,

Naar aanleiding van dit topic van Buffy, heb ik SpywareGuard geinstaleerd.

Allereerst de updates binnengehaald etc. In dat topic staat ook een handleiding van dat programma. Helaas in engels, waardoor ik er niet al te veel van snap .

Zou iemand mij kunnen uitleggen hoe ik dit programma moet gebruiken?

Kheb het een beetje vertaald:

Klik op de 'optie-button' (links) vink alles aan en druk op 'Save Settings'

Klik op 'Download Protection' en vink 'Alert and Prompt for action' aan.

Wanneer je op kruisje drukt sluit het programma niet af. Het programma sluit je zo geheel af:
Bestand, exit.
Als je dit niet doet, blijft Spywareguard actief, dit zie je in de taakbalk:

Dit is alles wat je moet weten.
Als je dit allemaal gedaan hebt is Spywareguard actief.

Maar het is dus niet zo dat ik op, ik noem maar even wat, 'Scan' moet drukken en dat ie dan bestanden gaat doorzoeken op spyware e.d.?

Nee, spywareguard doet aan preventie. Het voorkomt dus dat er spyware op je computer wordt geïnstalleerd.
Het scant echter geen bestanden. Hiervoor kan je ad-aware gebruiken.

Nee, SpywareGuard is geen spywarescanner. Het programma draait real-time en waarschuwt je als er bijvoorbeeld een toolbar geïnstalleerd wil worden of een nieuwe startpagina wil worden ingesteld. Jij krijgt dan de keuze om dat toe te staan dan wel te blokkeren.

In MSAS zit ook real-time bescherming inderdaad, maar daarnaast ook een scan- en verwijderoptie. SG doet alléén de real-time bescherming.

This should include more recent variants of those items, even without database updates, but it won't detect some completely new items (i.e. completely new spyware/adware programs, as opposed to new versions of, say, "RapidBlaster"). That said, again the most effective and useful protection for most users has probably been the Browser Hijacking Protection component (which alerts when various browser settings are changed in real-time), which doesn't require the database updates.

A new version of SpywareGuard, with some rather interesting new features, is in development. While I don't yet have a clue when it'll be ready for release, I can say that, regardless of how effective you personally consider the real-time scanning component, the current version of SpywareGuard provides some strong protection against Browser Hijacking - by alerting the user as soon as such activity is detected.

It isn't a catch-all or an end-all (nothing is), but it's meant to be an effective layer. The choice, as always, is left up to the user. I just give them that option (for free).
