De naam is: Sleepness
Global overview
Genre
Horror zombie FPS with RPG elements. It contains first person shooter gameplay, but a large portion of it is unarmed and based on escape and intelligence rather than proper aim and lots of ammunition. Additionally it yields skill leveling and collection gameplay.
Theme
The game is set in a portion of London, Great Britain. It is infested by sleepless zombies that have a lust for killing, but also for making you sleepless as well. There’s a division between the zombies themselves distinguished by the irrational man eating kind and the rational world domination focused kind. Here the player can roam freely (which is fairly dangerous) or follow along with the game’s story to discover the ****h and a way out.
Gameplay
The gameplay features mostly the running, jumping, climbing and falling across dangerous routes but it also has capabilities to take up arms and shoot. There is a continuous objective of collecting, as food is demanded over time or the player will slow down in running and weapons do come in handy too. Then there’s the mission based objectives which are indicated by the game’s story, leading the player across the world figuring a way out of this mess. Skills such aim and shooting speed will develop by being applied in combat and there’s plenty of room to free-roam and clear the streets of the sleepless horde.
Background
A sleeping drug was administered to a number of test subjects and all appeared to go well. People with the most severe cases of insomnia and sleeping disorders causing unaware activities during sleep were solved all at once. The drug went into mass production across the world and was almost ready for world-wide distribution when it went wrong.
The test subjects got worse than ever, all sleepless for days and days with or without the drug and they were taken into an isolated hospital where they were researched and the negative side effects of the sleeping drug were determined to see if they could be treated or avoided. All drugs ready for shipment were put on hold and lie in various warehouses across the world to catch dust for an eternity.
The test subjects seemed to have developed on a chemical level in their brains. The sleeping drug introduced new and uses apparent brain chemicals to enforce direct sleep. This however makes certain chemicals of the brain run out and others to be too apparent. The body stops giving signals of exhaustion making the test subjects feel strong all day but it also stops being able to sleep for various chemicals have run out.
It took a lot of time for the subjects to report their new lack of sleep after they were released from tests because they did not at all feel hindered by the issue but by taking their drugs away it only got worse. The body did not resume producing the required chemicals for it to be able to sleep but the signals of exhaustion returned. The drug is therefore a demand by the patients to feel better and due to their exhaustion they have become irrational resulting in extremely aggressive behavior, heavy mood swings and the tendency to snap at the slightest setback.
Eventually the test subjects rebelled against the operating personnel and immediate evacuation was issued. The test subjects remained inside the confined hospital until several days later when a military operation to clear the area entered and found all dead. Some died from natural exhaustion but most murdered in brutal ways and then exposed in a most ghastly ritual fashion.
The bodies were removed from the scene and returned to their families, but then something happened. In the morgue they all came back to life! Completely senseless due to an inexplicable pain they started murdering all they could find, yet the morgue they lay in had some of the drugs lying around and they immediately took it to feel powerful once more. Taking all the drugs they could find they expanded their legions by administering it to the innocent, knowing that they didn’t even need to think to whom they gave it or keep track of it all, for these people would all be powerful and seek out the main group to together rob the city of all they could.
This morgue lay in a central area of London, Great Britain, where now a portion of the city has been sealed off by the military. Any moving target is to be eliminated and all are trapped inside. These sleepless monsters are becoming more and more violent the longer they are awake and eventually they’ll become man eating monsters without a beating heart, full of pain until they take the drug. These wanderers eventually become so uncontrollably enraged that they are put out on the streets by their main group and all are so addicted to the drug that they do not care that they’ll end up like that. The streets roamed by monsters and the buildings barricaded by innocents, but the drug is administered to more and more people so that eventually the outer walls may be overthrown by the sleepless drug addicts. As a result many people are captured and put in prison, to await infection of the drug. The drug also takes several days of regular use, inducing proper sleep, extra strength and finally a state in which the body can no longer sleep, ever.
